A Seasonal Robotics Spectacle

Two robotic arms are programmed to decorate a Christmas tree set up between them. Each arm decorates its designated side, from bottom to top. In front of the tree and the robotic arms, there are two LED strips that change colors, controlled by the arms. A bit further ahead, and at a safe distance from the robotic arms, two sensors are placed—disguised as Christmas gifts!

How It Works

🎁 Supporting a Good Cause – After purchasing an ornament for €5, contributing to the earthquake relief efforts in Arkalochori, the participant approaches the setup and hands the ornament to the robotic arm operator, who places it in a predefined position.
🎄 Activating the Decoration Process – Once the LED strip turns green, signaling that the system is ready, the participant waves their hand over the sensor/gift, triggering the decoration process.
✨ Precision Ornament Placement – The robotic arm picks up the ornament from the designated spot, randomly selects a branch and a position on it, and carefully places the ornament before moving away.
🎶 A Small Bonus for the Show – Since we love creating a great spectacle, at the end of the decoration process, the robotic arm sways to the rhythm of a song only it can hear, while the LED strips change colors, illuminating the setup in a festive glow.
