The Robotic Bartender – A Glimpse into the Future
Imagine stepping into a bar in the distant future. You take a seat on a high stool and order an ice-cold Weiss beer. Within seconds, the Robotic Bartender, with fluid yet precisely programmed movements, serves your drink.
Bringing this vision one step closer to reality, the HMU Robotics Club presents its own version of a robotic bartender through a cutting-edge setup.
About us
✅ Two robotic arms replicating the precision of a professional bartender.
✅ A fixed bottle opener with an electromagnet to catch and dispose of the cap after opening.
✅ An inductive sensor ensuring the cap has been successfully removed.
✅ A “Pitcher Rinser” water sprayer to moisten the glass before pouring.
✅ A handcrafted wooden bar in an old saloon theme, creating a striking contrast between classic and futuristic elements.
How It Works
1️⃣ One robotic arm firmly grips the beer bottle using a specially designed, non-slip gripper that conforms to the bottle’s curves.
2️⃣ The bottle is opened with a fixed opener, while the second robotic arm picks up a glass with a similar precision grip. (For safety reasons, the cap was manually removed during public demonstrations.)
3️⃣ With one arm holding the bottle and the other the glass, the pouring process begins. Careful angles and distances are maintained to avoid excess foam.
4️⃣ Once the glass is filled, the second stage starts: foam creation. The bottle-holding arm performs quick, circular motions to generate foam, which is then poured into the glass along with the remaining yeast.
5️⃣ Finally, the arm gently places the freshly poured beer on the wooden bar—ready for the customer to enjoy.
